In the Projects- Coffee Station

This week I have to take a little detour from fashion.  I’m busy painting again (at my folks, at church, in my own home) and just to add to the craziness of it all, I’ve thrown in about a million other projects for myself to create.  I love this cartoon I pinned on Pinterest from everydaypeoplecartoons.com.  It completely sums up my life.

So I thought I’d show you some of the projects, completed or just begun, that I’m sweating about this week.

To start off, I saw on Pinterest (I know!  I have a problem) how to make a coffee station and I had this antique commode that I wasn’t sure where to put in our home or how to use effectively.  And an idea was born!  I’ll make it into a coffee station.

When I bought this commode, it was in its original state and badly scratched on one side.  But a quick paint job and it looked much more current.

Here’s what it looks like now, as my coffee station!

Each drawer is filled with creamer, filters, teas, cappuccino mix, sweeteners, and most importantly coffee.  The top drawer has extra mugs while I hung pretty ones from the dowel on top with shower curtain hooks.*  And the cabinet on the bottom is just the right size to fit our coffee maker.  Genius!

I added the piece next to my kitchen table and now it keeps guests out of the busy kitchen area when refilling their cup!  And for decoration, a pretty little cookbook stand (that I actually use) that I found at Goodwill.

How fun is that?!

*Shower curtain hooks create endless possibilities when decorating.  Any shelf with a “quilt rack” or dowel is a golden opportunity to use them in creative ways.
