If you’ve been reading this blog, you know that I love color. I can be a neutral gal but there is a streak in me that really loves her wild colors. And I like to be bold when it comes to fashion! It really is an extension of my artistic nature.
One thing that I LOVE so much is a spot that InStyle has been doing for several months now called Color Crash Course. If you don’t already subscribe to this magazine, you should! If you love style at all, you are going to love it. But this section is almost like the Bible for color combinations.
It’s like having your very own color wheel in your closet.
(Image courtesy of troytempleman.com) Each time it appears, I rip it out and will be posting on my closet door. Seriously. It makes wearing color a snap. Here’s an example of what information you’ll find. They choose a specific color (and I mean specific- there are two categories for plum and grape) and they pair it with other complementary colors (even a neutral and a “wild-card pairing”). All you have to do is find the piece in your closet that you want to pair with something. Have a purple sweater that you don’t know which pants it would look best with? Choose ivory for a neutral or coral red for something a little more sassy. It’s that easy. Don’t be scared by jeans in a strong color because you don’t know what to pair with them! Consult the fashion color wheel! Before you know it, you’ll be the one intimidating!
