What does all this have to do with Beauty Shop Saturday? I’m not sure. But it was something I wanted to share. As a child, I begged my sister and countless friends to play this game with me-
The Bride Game

The game , according to the box, “An exciting game of planning a wedding. Players must make all of the necessary arrangements for a wedding. They pick the bride and groom, attendants, flowers, cake and all over parts for a beautiful ceremony. For girls 8 to 14.”
I think I spent hours looking at each option. Which 70s cake did I want, which bouquet? But the most important decision, which dress!
Flash forward about 25 years and along comes t.v. shows like “Say Yes to the Dress” and “I Found The Gown” and “Bridal Wars.” Friday nights are a fun night to watch for bridal obsessed old little girls like me.
I still love picking out which dress I think looks great on each bride and all the details of wedding planning. And who wouldn’t, there are so many more fun options out there now versus the ones of The Bride Game’s vintage.
But it will always have a soft spot in my heart. I might have to go dig it out the next time I’m home. Anyone for a game?
