I know you are all curious to see what the new house is all about. We bought the house adjacent to our property with plans to do a little remodeling. What we’ll do with it afterwards is still a bit uncertain.  The Mr. & I will be your very own Chip & Joanna while we post pictures of our Fixer Upper!

I’ll give you a quick tour of the exterior. Here is the front.

Here is the back. Don’t get too attached because it will change. We have already taken off the back deck.

And now my work begins on the inside while we wait for the new windows to arrive and we plan a garage.

I’ll post some interior picts soon!

There is something about the springtime that takes me back to my time with my grandparents out in the country. Something about the briskness in the air and the muddy dirt that makes me want to garden (which I’m terrible at). I can barely go down the gardening isle at the store without wanting to buy it all- the rubber boots, the gloves, the watering cans. This season makes me want to buy pretty flowered patterned fabric to sew quilt blocks and embroider dish towels on a hoop. It makes me want to have coffee and sticky rolls every morning at 10 a.m. and wear an apron when I cook. It makes me want to can things (and I have no experience with that). To make jellies and jams and pickles.  It makes me want to hang my clothes on the clothesline to dry and carry and handkerchief.  More than anything, I want to go for a long walk on a gravel road with my grandparent’s old black lab, Pepper.

There’s just something about the springtime that brings back good memories of my grandma’s generation. That generation where you took an afternoon nap in the sunshine on the living room floor.  Where you took drives with the windows down, smelling the fresh dirt in the fields wearing an old seed cap.  Where card parties with your friends on the weekends was your entertainment. Where it was a joy to sit on old metal rockers on the porch with the wind chimes chiming.

I think I gotta go. You might find me digging out the binoculars to take a look at the birds that are back from winter. Or maybe with the kids and the dog taking a walk…

I’m sorry I’ve been so sporadic lately.  I have a few things to share with ya’ll!  But before my big announcement, I thought I’d share a few pictures of my living room/fireplace room.  I changed things up and might not even be done yet.

Here’s a few picts-

Fireplace Room

Fireplace Room

I decided to move my couch and loveseat in front of the fireplace and put my small table and chairs in the living room with my curved couch.  So far I’m really loving it.  But I have been thinking of making my living room my dining room.  I’m still mulling it over in my head…

I’d also like to hang my metal gate over my fireplace but for now it’s just sitting there.

Let me tell you what I don’t like about this picture.  I don’t like how gigantic my TV is now compared to my TV hutch.  (Thank you Black Friday.)  Something different is in the works.  Not to mention that I’d getting a crazy itch to paint again.  I think I have an illness…  🙂

I also may have forgotten to show you this little ditty I painted last spring.  It has just a few tweaks left in it.

BTW, a little shout out to myself.  Because some days you need that.  My top pin on Pinterest (which is my own picture, not something someone else pinned) is of my little bathroom hutch top shelf (you can view that post here.)  It’s been pinned over 300 times and has had almost 10,000 impressions (how many times it’s appeared in someone else’s feed),  The power of Pinterest.  Pretty amazing, huh?

Okay, now for the BIG NEWS.  I’ve stalled long enough.  We bought a house.  No, not for us to live in.  This one is a fixer upper.  And since I’m going on that journey, I thought you might like to go on it with me.  I’ll keep you up to date on all the work in my future!  In the meantime you’ll have to excuse my coming and going, I will be working fastly and furiously once again!

Never miss an update
